ROUTES OF ADMINISTRATION
ANABOLIC STEROIDS CAN BE ADMINISTERED BY FOLLOWING 4 ROUTES
- Injectable (Intramuscular only)
- Tropical application
Injectable steroids are typically administered into the muscle, not into the vein, to avoid sudden changes in the amount of the drug in the bloodstream. In addition, because estered testosterone is dissolved in oil, intravenous injection has the potential to cause a dangerous embolism (clot) in the bloodstream.
Tropical applications of anabolics are not very common in Muscle builders and it’s costly also.
Also patches uses are not very popular in athletes. Only injectable and oral anabolics are very famous in sports persons and gym goers.
An oral steroid causes more liver damage as compared to injectable anabolics. To reduce liver load, injectable steroids are mostly preferred.
Injectable steroids can cause oil abscess and fibrosis at injection site. Hence proper medical supervision should be taken to prevent and treat these conditions, after taking injections of Anabolic steroids.
